I started mountain biking at the age of 11, when I was bought my first "full size" bike. I used to cycle to my friends house across town every weekend, and there was a track down through the woods right near his house. After practicing here for a while, we ventured out to Macclesfield forest, where eventually spent most of our weekends.

I started racing Downhill when I was 15, which really improved my riding. It helped me conquer my fear of speed, and taught me to handle my bike across any terrain.

Moving on a number of years, and I started to appreciate the reward of cycling up the hills, before "bombing" down them. I found pleasure in conquering climbs that were previously walks, and satisfaction in my improved health and fitness. At the age of 29, I moved to Macclesfield and returned to cycling around the local forest, as I had done in my childhood.

Since long rides in the wilderness have taken over the majority of my Mountain biking, i have journeyed across the UK to trail centers like Coed-y-Brenin, Gisburn forest, Llandegla and Whinlatter.  Although these places are great fun to ride, and excellent places to hone your skills, there's nothing quite like getting out in the peak district on the natural wild trails that cover the countryside.
